Answer: Many copyright claimants are making complaints under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, Section 512(d), a safe-harbor for providers of "information location tools." Question: What are the provisions of 17 U.S.C. Section 512(c)(3) & 512(d)(3)?
Answer: Section 512(c)(3) sets out the elements for notification under the DMCA. Subsection A (17 U.S.C. 512(c)(3)(A)) states that to be effective a notification must include: 1) a physical/electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the infringed right; 2) identification of the copyrighted works claimed to have been infringed; 3) identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or to be the subject of infringing activity and that is to be removed; 4) information reasonably sufficient to permit the service provider to contact the complaining party (e.g., the address, telephone number, or email address); 5) a statement that the complaining party has a good faith belief that use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner; and 6) a statement that information in the complaint is accurate and that the complaining party is authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner. Subsection B (17 U.S.C. 512(c)(3)(B)) states that if the complaining party does not substantially comply with these requirements the notice will not serve as actual notice for the purpose of Section 512.Section 512(d)(3), which applies to "information location tools" such as search engines and directories, incorporates the above requirements; however, instead of the identification of the allegedly infringing material, the notification must identify the reference or link to the material claimed to be infringing.

Question: Does a service provider have to follow the safe harbor procedures?
Answer: No. An ISP may choose not to follow the DMCA takedown process, and do without the safe harbor. If it would not be liable under pre-DMCA copyright law (for example, because it is not contributorily or vicariously liable, or because there is no underlying ....), it can still raise those same defenses if it is sued.

Question: How do I file a DMCA counter-notice?

At a time when so much money is being invested in factories overseas, this is cash being invested in Canadian salaries, that will flow into Canadian shops and services, and eventually, into Canadian tax revenues.
The rule is, investing in infrastructure is always an investment in a country's future. A deep water port, the pipeline itself, new refineries to deal with a new kind of crude, are all a replacement for once-productive factories that have now gone silent.
The project is an investment in technology as well, as TransCanada develops the latest expertise in moving heavy oil and bitumen. A worker welds an oil pipeline in Siberia. (Dmitry Beliakov/Bloomberg News) The fact that the investment is in Canada, sharing Alberta's resource wealth in order to stimulate eastern economies, should make warm little maple leaf flags wave in our hearts.
Not only that, but there is another advantage for ordinary consumers. Girling says the pipeline will bring gas prices down, as domestic oil replaces expensive imported crude in Eastern Canada. How different from the days when Alberta would "let the eastern bastards freeze in the dark."
In another era, the economic nationalists at the Council of Canadians would have been cheering. But not this time. That's because the Council of Canadians now backs a new kind of economic nationalism, that of protecting Canada and the world from environmental collapse. The Council spells out its argument against such projects in its report, No Pipeline No Tankers .
The position taken by the Council of Canadians and those with similar views is what makes so many of us conflicted. If you believe, as the vast majority of scientists do, that pouring carbon into our atmosphere is creating a slow-moving global catastrophe, then this project, by facilitating increased carbon use, is an all-Canadian pathway to Armageddon.
TranCanada lays out its business case in favour of the pipeline in a glossy website . Reading it, including a wide ranging discussion of environmental issues, only deepens the pain of making an honest choice. No easy answer By comparison, it was so easy for some Canadians to take a principled stance against Keystone XL, the proposed pipeline that would take oilsands bitumen from Alberta south to the refineries of Texas. But will those principles stand when our own interests are at stake?
Despite a lot of self interest, other Canadian pipeline proposals have been repeatedly bogged down by opposition. The Mackenzie Valley pipeline missed its window of opportunity, blocked by studies and politics until a glut of gas made it not worth the effort. Currently, the Kinder Morgan and Northern Gateway lines both face intransigent opposition.
Despite this week's fanfare by TransCanada, there are many barriers in the way of an all-Canadian oil pipeline. Provinces will have a say. The Lac Megantic disaster has reminded us that crude oil is not just a benign cargo like wheat or lumber. Uncertain future As we saw with the Mackenzie pipeline, economics can change over the life of a megaproject. So can politics. The current federal government is thrilled with the project and will do everything in its power to smooth its way forward. But there is an election coming well before the completion date.
In the megaproject business completion dates are like the first of three wishes. That gives Canadians a chance to study the proposal and see if the rosy projections are really likely to come true.
Maybe all the crude is heading for processing overseas. Maybe the estimates of jobs and economic benefit are an overestimate. Maybe the benefit of a few billlion dollars in oil investment now is not worth the economic cost of wrecking the world for your children and grandchildren.
It is an opportunity and a painful duty. Canadians must talk to each other, face up to their conflicts and make a wise decision.

Fashion Inflation: Why Are Prices Rising So Fast?

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] From shoes to handbags to ready-to-wear, the price of designer fashion has increased precipitously over the last decade. What’s driving the rising prices? And how high can they go?

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] NEW YORK, United States — It’s easy to find a nice-looking pair of shoes for $40 these days, and even easier to find a trendy $40 dress. But while “fast fashion” prices are so light on the wallet they almost feel as though they’re going to disappear altogether, the cost of luxury goods continues to rise and rise, with no end in sight.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Currently on luxury e-tailer Net-a-Porter, there are more than 100 pairs of shoes priced over $1,000. (Two pairs of sparkly Christian Louboutins exceed $6,000.) And the price of Chanel’s famous 2.55 bag now rivals that of an Hermès Kelly. That is, an Hermès Kelly a decade ago. In the US market, the famous bag, which in the year 2000 started at $4,800, now starts at $7,600.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] A nearly 60 percent price increase may seem excessive — especially when compared to the US Consumer Price Index (a measure of the price level of consumer goods, published by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics), which has increased by 27 percent over the past decade — but it’s typical in the luxury fashion category.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Indeed, in recent years, prices of luxury fashion products have grown at more than twice the rate of general inflation. In 2003, Carrie Bradshaw’s famous Manolo Blahniks cost $485. Exactly ten years later, the same style is $755, a 56 percent increase. (And several pairs of current season Manolos cost well above $1,000.) Ready-to-wear-dresses in the $10,000 and up range barely existed 10 years ago. Now they’re commonplace. In fact, popular luxury fashion e-commerce site Luisa Via Roma is currently selling a Fausto Puglisi embroidered tartan skirt for over $10,000 and a leather-and-bouclé Fendi dress for more than $13,000.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] So what’s driving up the prices and how far can they go?

First, let’s consider the rough costs of producing a luxury product. Gross margins for luxury companies typically hover around 65 percent — that sounds like a lot, but it’s what shareholders now expect. It also means that a $3,500 bag costs roughly $1,225 to produce and bring to market, all the way from materials to sale. There are many steps along the way that contribute to the final price. There are the costs of raw materials, design, manufacturing and fulfillment. Then, at retail, there’s the cost of prime real estate and sales staff. And finally, there’s marketing: those glossy fashion adverts cost a pretty penny to produce, let alone to place. Over the past 10 years — and particularly since the end of the recession — many of these costs have increased dramatically.

Raw materials are more expensive and more scarce than ever before. Cattle prices (which are relevant to leather goods) will rise in the US by 7.3 percent in 2013, according to market research firm Allendale. And in the years since the global financial crisis, cotton prices have risen to previously unheard of levels, with demand from China pushing them even further in 2013 — to $93.08 in June 2013, a 13 percent increase year-on-year. Both Louis Vuitton and Hermès have recently invested in Australian crocodile farms to ensure their supply of the expensive skin, while Kering, in March, acquired Normandy-based crocodile tannery France Croco for the same reasons.

Rising labour costs are a factor, too. The wages of private-sector workers in China (where many brands manufacture) increased by 14 percent in 2012, according to China’s National Bureau of Statistics. Over the past 10 years, monthly average wages almost doubled in Asia, with an 18 percent increase in Africa, and 15 percent in Latin America and the Caribbean (also important manufacturing centres) according to a report released by the UN’s International Labour Organisation. And it’s not just emerging markets. In France, labour costs will, this year, reach their highest levels ever, according to the OECD.

Perception and desirability play a huge role in the pricing game, too. The more expensive something is, the more exclusive and, therefore, desirable it becomes. Burberry, for instance, said as recently as March that it would raise prices to increase its appeal to the upper end of its customer base and attract new, wealthier customers.

For some brands, the anticipation of markdowns is another factor. “Brands’ biggest fear is having to mark things down,” says New York retail consultant Robert Burke. Though a few luxury brands, like Hermès and Louis Vuitton, do not discount, it’s typical for most fashion retailers to mark down at least a portion of their product in order to efficiently clear inventory. One need look no further than the department stores and monobrand boutiques currently offering discounts of more than 70 percent on Spring product to see that customers can, with the requisite strategy and patience, easily buy a pair of $1,400 stilettos for a much more palatable $300. “People who are on the really cutting edge of fashion might buy pre-season [at full price] but many folks wait for the discounts,” says journalist Ellen Ruppel Shell, author of Cheap: The High Cost of Discount Culture.

“Designer brands repeatedly going on sale may eventually be forced to artificially inflate prices to counter the margin pressure,” notes Matthew Walker, Creatures of the Wind chief executive, who served as president of The Row from 2008 to 2011. Though this could “lead to price resistance and eventually impact brand loyalty,” he cautions.

But perhaps the most powerful driver of fast-rising luxury fashion prices is the fact that there are simply more people who are able to pay up. The number of high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) in the world increased by 9.2 percent in 2012 to 12 million people, with combined total assets of $46.2 trillion, according to a report by Capgemini, a management consultancy. North America still hosts the largest number of HNWIs (3.73 million people, up 11.5 percent year-over-year, with $12.7 trillion in assets, up 11.7 percent year-over-year), but the number of HNWIs in the Asia-Pacific region increased by 9.4 percent, during the same period, to 3.68 million, with total assets up 12.2 percent to $12 trillion.

Yes, the rich are getting richer. But is there a limit to what a sane person — billionaire or not — is willing to pay for a pair of shoes? “The question is, how high is high?” Burke asks. “These are people who have their jets outfitted in Hermès leather and Loro Piana vicuna. If demand is there, brands will continue to move up.”

Interesting read. I think this is definitely something that is becoming more apparent more recently. It’s interesting to see how brand identify themselves as either ‘luxury’ or ‘contemporary’; the latter usually meaning lower priced and/or a younger/newer designer. Prices can’t go up for ever and luxury brands may need to be careful of creating a bubble that may one day burst.

Even though the rich are getting richer, there is only so much money in the world. Designer brands need to wake up and see the untapped markets they could reach if only they could start pricing their items a tiny bit lower. Not all of us have Hermes-outfitted private jets, but most of us wouldn’t mind shelling out a couple grand for a handbag, so long as its reasonable.

I blame investors for expecting higher profits every year over the previous years. There’s only so much a company can make before plateau-ing. Even after cutting quality, pay cuts, lay offs, and price hikes, if brands can’t make investors happy, guess who needs to shutter their doors and sell off the company?

Frankly, it’s a narrow and short-sighted strategy to keep upping the price tag. Those of us who don’t want to support poor labor practices of many brands will be forced to purchase them anyway because the better goods are out of reach. I’m afraid we’re simply reverting back to the Have and Have Nots, it’s so medieval but fashion brands are certainly working towards that goal.

1980'erne I 80'erne handlede det hele om at sende et budskab. Tænk blot på de mange skulderpuder, overdimensioneret tøj, skøre farver og stort hår. Skuespilleren Brooke Shields optrådte som model i den velkendte Calvin Klein jeans-kampagne, hvilket startede en succesfuld karriere som model og skuespiller for hende.

Viewing the Whole via Microscope
fake iwc watch While it’s good to have a big picture read on the market before diving into trades on individual sectors or single company stocks, it can also prove helpful to view the whole via its individual components.
And we want to take that opportunity now – to reveal two discrete corners of the market that we believe point up the broader investment reality.
And it goes like this –

Pennies from Heaven
It’s not revolutionary to say that penny stocks are among the market’s riskiest investments. Forget silver or other high beta issues that move wildly with every bit of news that’s released – the pennies are a sink or swim endeavor altogether. The vast majority of companies in the class don’t last, whether due to funding issues, poor management, competition or just a bad idea to begin with.
So you can imagine our surprise at seeing an explosion of interest in the pennies this last month, at a time when, yes, the big caps were recovering from a swoon, but not nearly so rapidly as the tykes.
Take a look at the two charted against eachother for the last three months –
For the better part of a year, the micro-caps more or less mirrored the Dow – until the latter topped out at the end of May. Then, while the Dow dove, the microcaps, represented here by the iShares Micro-Cap ETF (NYSE:IWC), drifted sideways then exploded higher, resulting in a disproportionate advance vis-à-vis their more closely watched megacap brothers.
The chart shows unequivocally that the speculative inflow was based on something akin to ‘sector rotation’ rather than anything rational or fundamentally driven. There’s simply no reason to believe that the most speculative class of shares on the market all experienced earnings or regulatory tidings that made them more worthy than they were a month ago. The very notion is laughable.
And for that reason, we believe that a speculative unwind on the sector is now inevitable, and likely soon. Because there’s equally no reason to expect that a rejuvenation of the bull market will draw people into a risky asset class when strong returns from ‘safer’ investments are on the table for the taking.
IDEA: a pairs trade using PUTs on IWC and the SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF (NYSE:DIA) would do the trick. Long the former and short the latter.
Homebuilding Blues
The news from the homebuilding sector has been nothing short of extraordinary of late – from pricing to new starts to inventory decreases, it’s all been a go.
And the stocks have responded. The SPDR S&P Homebuilders ETF (NYSE:XHB) has risen an extraordinary 167% since bottoming in the summer of 2011 (see chart, below).
The fly in the ointment, of course, is mortgage rates, which began inching higher earlier in the year and then accelerated in more meaningful fashion in the last two months.
That’s resulted in a stall for the homebuilders that we believe may mark an interim cap for the group.

The homebuilders have a number of strikes against them, according to our technical read.
An overbought RSI read last September (circled in red, at bottom) was followed by
Eight months worth of divergence between a rapidly ascending price on the one hand, and flat to lower action on both RSI and MACD on the other (blue lines), then
Six weeks ago, XHB broke below its long term price channel (in blue), and
Has recently traced the final shoulder of a possible five month head and shoulders top pattern.
All told, it doesn’t look good for the homebuilders, and a break below $27.80 could prove deadly.
That said, any move above former highs at $32.69 would be an all-clear sign that could prove exorbitantly profitable for the longs.
With XHB now sitting at $30.66, the breakout points are very close – just 6% on the upside and 9% below.
How do we play it?
Consider a PUT purchase at the downside break point and CALLs at the upper end.
And give yourself lots of time.
This is a market that’s about to move sharply.

De esta forma, el programa de competición continúa este mismo martes en la bahía de Palma. El Comité de Regatas intentará organizar tres mangas en todas las pruebas salvo en La Caixa X-35 y Mahou J80, que saldrán al agua con un programa máximo de dos pruebas. Breitling One of the worst-kept secrets of the technology industry is that the next big product category will be smartwatches, wearable computers that sources have all but confirmed will be released soon by Apple , Microsoft , Google and Samsung . But no matter how useful, how beautiful and how advanced these wristwatch-like devices end up being, at least one group of people likely won’t be moved by them: hardcore watch collectors, who favor wind-up watches with analog dials, gears, and springs over any hypothetical touchscreen or voice-activated product.

Tag Heuer replica "It’s not going to disturb the market for serious watch collectors," said William Massena, a New York-based consultant who’s collected luxury wristwatches for the past 20 years. Massena shares his passion with other like-minded collectors on Twitter and the discussion forum of a watch collecting website called TimeZone . "If they came out with an iWatch tomorrow, I would consider it a tool more than anything else. I’m sure I’d use it, but I would probably put it in my pocket. I doubt I’d wear it on my wrist."

Massena is not alone: other avid watch collectors and industry-watchers reached by The Verge said that they would certainly take a look at Apple’s rumored iWatch or competing smartwatches, and might even purchase a few for kicks. But they adamantly maintain no computerized device, no matter how advanced and beautifully designed, could ever disrupt the lucrative market for new and vintage mechanical watches, which are made with technology that originated in the Medieval era .
$10,000 to multimillion-dollar range per watch
The luxury watches prized by collectors technically start at $1,000 — though prices in the $10,000 to multimillion-dollar range per watch are more common — and are primarily made by Swiss companies including Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin and Patek Philippe. These watches have hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of moving parts and regal, austere names like Royal Oak and The Saltarello, or numeric designations, like the 5196R. They have internal jewels to prevent wear. There’s a whole system of classification for the types of features and functions they offer beyond the time, known fittingly as " complications ."

"For so many people, a watch is not a timepiece," said Gene Stone, a wristwatch collector, journalist and author of The Watch , a book on luxury timepieces. "For people who love watches, it’s like having a piece of history sitting on your wrist. That’s a whole different psychology from having a computer on your wrist." Stone, who said he owns 10 luxury wristwatches and numerous other clocks, is part of a small group of collectors in New York City known as the Watch Enthusiasts of New York (WENY), or "Weenies," who meet monthly to talk watches and show off their favorites. "I could see myself wearing a Royal Oak on my left wrist and a Microsoft computer watch on my right," Stone said, but added the Microsoft smartwatch would have to be "beautiful."
Hardcore watch collectors may be forgiven for shrugging off the arrival of a new breed of multifunction smartwatches. After all, the old-school, wind-up mechanical watches they favor, most of which come from Switzerland — known as the " watchmaking capital of the world " — have survived disruption by more advanced technology multiple times before.

Indeed, just under a decade ago, Microsoft partnered with several lower-end watch consumer companies — Fossil, Suunto, and Swatch — to introduce a line of digital smartwatches. These were based on a Microsoft technology called SPOT, "Smart Personal Objects Technology," which used FM signals to deliver live-updating information to watch faces, such as local weather forecasts, stock quotes and news headlines. "It's glanceable information and it's a combination of the two things that I think people really care about — fashion, something that's fun and exciting, and technology that brings them personal information," Bill Gates said at the time (sound familiar?). Consumers, however, did not agree, and after four years of low adoption, the clock ran out on SPOT in 2008 . "Microsoft tried and completely failed, and here we are, they are trying again," Massena said of the failure of the company's smartwatches.

As for mechanical watches, their persistence across the ages is something of a technological anomaly, driven by a relatively small group of generally wealthy, generally male consumers who value them not as tools for telling time, but as works of art. "People who collect wristwatches are probably the last people on earth who need to know what time it is," Stone said. "If you have an expensive wristwatch, you probably already have a smartphone, a tablet, an assistant, and other gadgets to help tell you the time." Stone added that at Weenies meetings, it wasn’t uncommon for everyone to be looking at each other’s watches, only for someone to ask what time it is and everyone to have to check again, because they were paying attention to other facets of the watches.
The art of mechanical watchmaking arose in Switzerland back in the mid-1500s , a reaction to religiously motivated bans on other forms of jewelry. Mechanical timepieces use springs and a series of gears to keep time, and must be physically re-wound by the wearer periodically. They were massively popular for centuries and their heyday lasted from World War I until 1969, when Japanese company Seiko launched the Astron , the first quartz wristwatch for the consumer market.
The Seiko Astron used a vibrating quartz crystal instead of a spring, which kept time more accurately than mechanical watches, and without requiring winding. In the years that followed, quartz watches made primarily by Japanese and Chinese companies, such as Casio in Tokyo, quickly surpassed the popularity of mechanical watches made by the Swiss. They even enabled a new generation of electronic watches with digital displays. The so-called "quartz crisis" decimated the Swiss mechanical watchmaking industry — bankrupting many companies, while others were slower to catch up and release their own quartz products. Rolex, though, proved to be one of the few Swiss companies to not only adapt, but prove instrumental in popularizing quartz for luxury watches . Its 1977 Oysterquartz line is still considered by many watch enthusiasts to be some of the finest quartz models ever made . Today about 88 percent of Swiss watch sales are quartz, according to WatchTime , a bimonthly magazine for luxury watch collectors.

And yet, in a strange twist of fate, mechanical watches not only hung on throughout the quartz crisis, but in recent years, newly made mechanical timepieces have become the most profitable part of the Swiss watch industry all over again. In 2012, new mechanical watches accounted for over $17 billion out of $23.5 billion total watch exports from Switzerland, according to the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry group. "The fact that the market for this 400-year-old technology, which is completely obsolete, exists, is astonishing," said Joe Thompson, WatchTime ’s editor-in-chief. "It’s a miracle really."

Thompson, who has been covering the industry since the thick of the quartz crisis in the 1970s, told The Verge that he first observed the revival for the mechanical watch in the late '80s and early '90s as a status symbol for newly wealthy American men on Wall Street and in Silicon Valley. And it is men, primarily, who collect watches, according to WatchTime ’s readership statistics (98 percent of their 50,000 subscribers are men). "A watch is generally the only piece of jewelry a man will have on at any given time," agreed Stone. While there's been some handwringing in the industry over the fact that the younger generation doesn't appear to be buying or sporting wristwatches — why would they be, when a mobile phone usually close at hand? — the appetite seems to develop as they age and accrue more money. "Young people tend not to be interested, but as you get older, you may acquire one," Stone explained, "Maybe you inherit your father's watch, or retire after 10 years at a company and get a nice watch, and that's how it starts."
After the financial crisis of 2008 wiped out the fortunes of many of the post-quartz generation of luxury watch collectors, Swiss mechanical watch exports plunged an alarming 22.1 percent in 2009. Then, in 2010, Swiss watch experts resurged and have pretty much climbed steadily every year ever since, driven in large part by a class of newly wealthy Chinese collectors. At least until now — the early statistics from the first half of 2013 show a worrying slowdown in the Swiss watch industry’s growth.
Collectors and industry analysts aren’t so concerned about the mechanical watch’s future, though. "Mechanical watches are enormously complex, and the process to make them is very hi-tech," Thompson said, pointing out that precision machines are used to make and assemble the hundreds of moving parts of luxury mechanical watches. "There’s a tremendous amount of science that goes into it, which is why it’s stayed alive."

По официальным данным, в первом полугодии этого года объем торговли Таджикистана со странами СНГ сократился на 5 процентов, составив всего 995 миллионов долларов. В то же время показатели торговых отношений с дальним зарубежьем выросли почти на 11 процентов, превысив 1,5 миллиарда долларов. Таким образом, доля товарооборота с бывшими советскими республиками упала за все время существования таджикского государства до самой низкой отметки - 39 процентов.

Так, к примеру, выросла стоимость западных автомашин и технического оборудования. В то же время упало в цене продовольствие, которое завозится в основном из постсоветских стран.

Непростые отношения с соседом

На снижение показателей товарооборота со странами СНГ повлияли не только экономические причины, но и политические. В частности, эксперты указывают на продолжающуюся блокаду южной ветки таджикской железной дороги со стороны Узбекистана, которая соединяет таджикскую Хатлонскую область с внешним миром. Транспортные проблемы вынуждают Таджикистан искать альтернативу многим товарам с постсоветского севера в странах Восточной и Южной Азии.

По данным таджикского Агентства по статистике, товарооборот Таджикистана с Узбекистаном в первом полугодии нынешнего года снизился на 47 процентов, составив всего 9,2 миллиона долларов. На это повлияло и прекращение поставок узбекского газа таджикистанским потребителям с 1 января 2013 года. В это же время показатели торговли Таджикистана с Пакистаном достигли 62 миллионов долларов, а с нестабильным Афганистаном даже 73 миллионов.

Разные концепции - новые пути

По мнению наблюдателей, объемы торговли Таджикистана со странами СНГ во многом будут зависеть от политического вектора страны. Эксперты свои предположения связывают с возможной необходимостью Душанбе выбрать один из трех геополитических проектов, контуры которых ясно вырисовываются в регионе.

Прогноз таджикского аналитика, разделяют и российские эксперты. "Таджикистан столкнулся с непростой транспортной ситуацией на севере, пути в страны СНГ нередко блокируются по политическим мотивам, в такой ситуации будут вполне объяснимы поиски Душанбе новых партнеров на юге и востоке", - говорит эксперт Российского института стратегических исследований Дмитрий Попов.

По мнению Бехруза Химо, в отдаленной перспективе у Таджикистана все же сохранится зависимость от поставок ГСМ и продуктов из России и Казахстана. "Здесь нет экономического смысла искать новых партнеров", - полагает таджикский эксперт.

Завершился пятый этап ралли-марафона «Шелковый путь»: Жан Луи Шлессер финишировал первым, вернув себе лидерство в общем зачете. Эдуард Николаев стал сильнейшим среди грузовиков по итогам дня. Он второй день подряд приходит первым. Парадоксы гонки - этот результат не смог принести ощутимую пользу: экипаж №300 выбыл из борьбы за победу еще на третьем этапе, схлопотав сто часов пенализации (штрафа за нарушение регламента гонки). Причиной тому стали неполадки с двигателем, которые экипаж не смог исправить на месте, и был вынужден прибегнуть к помощи «технички». Таким образом, лидером общего грузового зачета остается Айрат Мардеев.

Алеш Лопрайс подарил Мардееву дополнительную возможность второй год подряд забрать «тарелку» с двумя верблюдами (именно так выглядит заветный трофей победителя «Шелкового пути») – сошел со спецучастка. Пока не известно, продолжит ли он участие в гонке. Все будет зависеть от мастерства механиков, которым нужно за ночь починить его новую капотную «Татру». Как заявляет Лопрайс, «ШП» для него – тренировка перед «Дакаром», и основной задачей, которую поставила команда, отправляясь в российские степи – это не победа, а тестирование нового автомобиля. Да, что ему еще остается делать, когда на носу те же сто штрафных часов.

Список лидеров, выбывших из борьбы, ранее пополнили Борис Гадасин, прошлогодний победитель «Шелкового пути» в классе джипов, и Филипп Гаш. Это далеко не полный список команд, для которых гонка завершилась досрочно. Массовые сходы доказывают, насколько трудным и непредсказуемым оказался в этом году маршрут ралли-марафона, а ведь Семен Семенович предупреждал...

Одним из самых громких сходов стала авария с участием новичка марафона Александра Колембетова, в «Тойоту» которого на полном ходу влетел старожил ралли, казах Артур Ардавичус, за что поплатился традиционными ста часами пенализации. Вышедший из строя редуктор переднего моста выгнал пилота со спецучастка на асфальт, так он смог потихоньку доехать до бивуака – это была единственная возможность не выбыть из гонки совсем. Пилот и штурман «Тойоты», отец и сын Колембетовы, отделались ушибами спины и головной болью.

Все могло закончиться гораздо хуже для команды «Вираж» из Белгорода. На спецучастке Волгоград-Астрахань, на четвертый день гонки, предположительно из-за слишком высокой температуры и проблем с проводкой, вспыхнул пикап «Ниссан». Спортсмены успели выскочить из машины, захватив огнетушитель – правда тушить было уже нечего: за несколько секунд пламя оставило от машины один лишь каркас. Как вечером рассказали механики команды, приехав на место пожара, чтобы забрать оставшиеся целыми детали, кроме «коробки» брать было абсолютно нечего.
В команде «За Рулем Спорт», как мы писали в предыдущем отчете , тоже не обошлось без аварии. На первом спецучастке Михаил Коструков на «Газели Next» пошел на обгон и на большой скорости влетел в непрописанный в роуд-буке овраг. Машина перевернулась. Пилоту повезло – он отделался легкими травмами, в основном ушибами, а у штурмана Олега Нежнова – компрессионный перелом позвоночника, одна из самых распространенных травм в ралли-рейдах. На вертолете он был доставлен в больницу. Врачи обнадежили: неврологических проявлений нет, а это значит, что функции рук и ног сохранны. Однако, в любом случае, процесс восстановления займет много месяцев. Команда очень переживает за Олега, желает ему скорейшего выздоровления и возвращения в любимый спорт!
Жизнь команды
Между тем, на бивуаке, расположившимся на аэродроме Астрахани, стемнело. Механики проснулись и приготовились к работе: зашумели генераторы, свет прожекторов осветил площадку. Уставшие пилоты, как тени, бредут кто в душ, кто на ужин, журналисты осаждают их с вопросами. Вячеслав Субботин, пилот команды «За Рулем Спорт», делится впечатлениями прошедшего дня: «Участок Элиста-Астрахань, несмотря на все «страшилки» организаторов, оказался не таким сложным: были быстрые прямики, плавные повороты. Труднее всего было ориентироваться. Сложная навигация вообще особенность этого года. Мы заблудились всего дважды, что позволило обойти около пяти машин, которые плутали в разы больше. Машины сновали туда-сюда – некоторые даже ехали в противоположную сторону».
Маршрут пятого дня проходил по гладким высохшим соляным озерам, так называемым солончакам. На солончаках можно было развить хорошую скорость. Лидеры, как выражаются пилоты, «валили на все деньги». «Газель» тоже ускорилась, но осторожничала, и не зря. Пилот заподозрил неладное: остановились, вышли, посмотрели – а в колесе вместо положенных восьми шпилек только пять. Пройти по пескам можно только на большом крутящем моменте, а при такой неисправлности может выдавить полуось. Пока штурман с пилотом стояли в задумчивости, к ним подъехали местные жители и вызвались помочь. Гонщики сообразили, как укрепить колесо: они ремнем притянули деревяшку, любезно предоставленную местными жителями, к колесу и таким образом добрались до финиша.
Самое интересное, что за результатами гонки проще следить в интернете, чем в суматохе лагеря. Для большинства пилотов тайной за семью печатями является – чтобы вы думали – собственное место в итоговом протоколе. Так, позавчера, по окончании четвертого этапа гонщики из команды «За Рулем Спорт» с удивлением узнали, что стали призерами четвертого этапа чемпионата России по ралли-рейдам, проходящего в рамках «ШП-2013».
Александр Коструков и Евгений Павлов на «Соболе Бизнес» поднялись на вторую ступеньку пьедестала, уступив только сильнейшей в российском ралли-рейде на сегодняшний день команде G-Force , а Вячеслав Субботин и Рамиль Замалетдинов стали третьими.
И, напоследок, о самом колоритном участнике «Шелкового пути» - грузовике «Садко» (модернизированном ГАЗ-66). В зрительских зонах, завидев «шишигу», публика неизменно взрывается восторженными криками и овациями. Трогательный грузовик пилотируют опытные гонщики, мастера спорта Михаил Шкляев и Станислав Долгов. Машина на 90 процентов является серийной моделью, но благодаря своим ходовым качествам и мастерству гонщиков, медленно но верно преодолевает пески, каменистый грунт, броды и все прочие трудности ралли-марафона. «У нас не было задачи ехать на результат. Мы хотели опробовать автомобиль в песках, на сложных грунтах. Программа максимум – дойти до финиша «Шелкового пути». На сегодняшний день мы довольны своим результатом («Садко» занимает 16 позицию из 20 – прим. автора)», – рассказывает пилот грузовика Михаил Шкляев.
Стартовые ведомости на завтра висят на доске объявлений: снова вставать полседьмого утра. Шестой, предпоследний, этап «ШП» станет проверкой спортсменов на выдержку и выносливость. 466 километров трассы пройдут по песчаным дорогам, дюнам и эргам Калмыкии. Нужно собрать силы – финиш уже не за горами.

За прошедшие дни он успел пересечь Латвию и сейчас бежит по территории Эстонии. “Собираясь в путь, я ставил две цели. Во-первых, испытать себя.
